World War I

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I we are researching local people who were alive at the time.

World War 1 affected every village and every family, and we are gathering material to illustrate its human impact and ensure that our successors never forget. It will be presented in an exhibition in Crediton Museum in 2014 on the 100th anniversary of the war’s outbreak.

Below is a list of people we are currently researching but if you know of others, or if you have any material which could contribute to this project, such as photographs, stories or memories of local people during the first World War,  please contact us
