Members of Crediton Area History & Museum Society had a stall at a recent Farmers’ Market in Crediton’s Town Square. Society Chairman George Palin was joined by archivist John Heal and Events Organiser Judy Tucker. Displayed on the stall were photographs and stories about the history of the ancient street markets in Crediton. The group handed out fliers advising people of the facilities available at Crediton Museum and the Devon Heritage Centre’s Service Point there, and dealt with questions from shoppers about the area’s history.
Mrs Tucker said “We were delighted to have the opportunity to meet local people and tell them more about our work. Although the museum is in the middle of the town’s High Street, there are still people who are unaware of it and the facilities we offer. Getting out amongst the community in this way is vital to raise awareness and we are very grateful to the Farmers Market’s organisers for allowing us this opportunity.”
