Fascinating Facts Revealed by Family History Research

We don't always find many skeletons in the cupboard but researching census returns, newspapers & parish registers can produce all sorts of surprises!

Research research we have done revealed two Chelsea Pensioners, both born here and who returned here after as much as 20 years military service, much of it abroad.

They lived within a few doors of each other in Park Street. In the same area an early 19th century sabre was found and we speculate that this was brough home as a souvenir of their foreign adventures, since both of them were at Waterloo.

Records of previously unknown family members and ancestors deported to Australia have also been discovered.
