New heritage trail based on the historical cloth trade in the Cullompton area.
Project coordinator Penny Bayer has been in touch to tell us about the new Cullompton and Culm Valley Cloth Trail. It has two purposes. The first part takes you around the towns and villages in the Culm Valley providing an overview of the importance of the cloth trade in this area over many centuries. The second part is a walk around Cullompton town centre revealing the hidden history of over 20 locations, including Shortlands, St Andrew’s Church, the former Workhouse, the mills and the former Fox Brothers and Tannery sites.
The trail is described in a leaflet which can be picked up in printed form in Cullompton Town Hall, the Hayridge, the Community Centre and Coldharbour Mill, or downloaded as a PDF.
