At the time the Cathedral was being built in Exeter, an area of land not far from the recreation ground and the Beer Engine in Newton St Cyres was flooded and was used for seasoning the timbers used in building the Cathedral. The Cathedral records are very readable and interesting especially for those in the village as they also seem to have had the Cathedral stables there.
The big village hall has been booked as the talk is expected to be popular. Neighbouring groups are invited. Cost: £2 at the door which will include tea and biscuits.
