Bow and District Historical Society summer visit, to Sandford. Please note the recent (July 23rd) change to the parking arrangements.
A guided walk led by members of the Sandford Heritage Group.
Join us to see the site of a murder, the tallest cob walls in Devon, a house that was flooded to the ceiling of the ground floor, and the site of two separate ironworks next door to each other run by different factions within the same family. Not to mention some of the best carved bench-ends for many a mile.
Important late announcement
At the eleventh hour it transpires that it will not be possible to access the normal village car park on Monday. BT have applied to close the whole of Fanny's Lane for three weeks (!), and although we can't be sure it is likely that it will not be possible to get as far as the car park.
We have therefore arranged alternative parking (especially tricky in Sandford which has a serious parking problem even without this) by courtesy of the Munday family at Town Barton Farm. Please drive into the farmhouse's yard where SHG members will be waiting at 6:30 as previously arranged. It would help to car share as much as possible because the amount of space is limited.
