Selection of archive footage of south west railways, specially compiled for the Dartmoor Railway Supporters' Association
On Wednesday April 5th there will be a screening of the Dartmoor Railway Supporters' Association's 'Withered Arm' film compilation at the Rising Sun, Umberleigh, EX37 9DU. This is a fascinating selection of BBC, TSW, and privately filmed archive film footage of railways of the South West and of the Southern Railway's 'Withered Arm'. The film, compiled by the South West Film and Television Archive, includes considerable coverage at various dates between Exeter and Barnstaple and also on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway.
The screening is timed to enable convenient travel by train to and from Umberleigh from Barnstaple & Exeter directions. The Rising Sun Hotel is just a couple of minutes level walk from the Railway station. The Rising Sun is open from 1700 with food served from 1800 to 2100. Cost of entry to this event is £3 per person towards the costs incurred. Pre-booking to attend is not required.
If you can't attend, there's another showing at the DRSA AGM on May 19th.
