Talk by Peter Budd on the Prayer Book Rebellion. A Newton St. Cyres History Group event.
During the Prayer Book rebellion there was a lot of action around here in 1549 and Peter will tell us how people in Cornwall and Devon rebelled against the decree by Henry VIII that prayers should be in English rather than Latin. The rebels marched on and captured Crediton and there were pitched battles in the Exeter area.
Meetings are held in the Club room of the Parish Hall unless stated otherwise. Admission £2 to include tea and biscuits. There is no membership. All are welcome.
