Exeter’s Struggle for Freedom

Lecture to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees in Exeter. Please support it if you can.

When: to April  2022
Where:Exeter Guildhall, High Street, Exeter, Devon, EX4 3EB
Who:Dr Todd Gray MBE

The recent events in Russia have reminded us of how easily our freedoms can be lost. This lecture looks at the long struggle in Exeter to attain those rights we take for granted. In particular it will examine the fight for the vote for women and working class men, for education and free access to books, for the freedom of conscience in respect to faith, for the right to a fair wage, for men not to be executed because they had a same sex partner, and the right not to be the legal property of another individual.
