A Bow & District Historical Society event. Note this is not the usual venue.
Bow History’s meeting on Monday 24 June at 7.15 for 7.30pm is not in Bow Village Hall but in the grade 1 listed St Bartholomew’s Church at Nymet Tracey, near Bow. David Cook will be giving a talk on Stained Glass by Local Firms. For many years David has been researching the stained glass of Devon between 1800 and 1939. His talk will be illustrated with a backdrop of Victorian examples in St Bartholomew’s. After his talk he will conduct a walk-around tour of the windows in the church. The original church was built by Sir William de Tracey as a penance for involvement in the murder of St. Thomas a Becket. It has a number of other interesting features.
