This is a talk describing how weather forecasting has developed from early times right through to the present day. Forecasting began as far back as the 4th century BC. In the 1600’s it was early optics, folklore, and the changes in nature which predicted weather patterns but was sometimes seen as questioning the supremacy of the monarchy or of God. In the early 1800’s science formed the foundations of forecasting and, of course, super computers are extensively used today.
