Inspired by the finding of an exquisite and exceptional late Anglo-Saxon ring at Wembworthy in Mid Devon which is now in RAMM, there will be a day of exploration about the Anglo-Saxons in Exeter and Devon. It will include opportunities to get close to rarely displayed Anglo-Saxon charters connected to Exeter Cathedral and objects and coins in RAMM’s collection which are not often on show. The ring will also be on display. Experts will be on hand to explain and interpret them.

Speakers are John Allan on Anglo-Saxon Exeter, Emma Laws, Cathedral Librarian, on the Anglo-Saxon ‘Exeter Book’ held by the Cathedral, Dickon Perryman, an expert on coins and the mints in Devon and Tom Cadbury, Assistant Curator of RAMM, on the finds and the ring.

Attendees will receive a specially prepared booklet about Anglo-Saxon Exeter and Devon to accompany the day.

Seeing the charters will require walking to the Cathedral and back to RAMM. Lunch is not provided.
