Talk on smuggling in Devon by well known local historian, author and presenter Robert Hesketh
Between 1700 – 1850 smuggling became a huge industry in Devon involving all social classes. This talk attempts a balanced view of an illegal trade which was eventually defeated by cutting duties on imports.
Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month from September to May.
