The story of the Polish 307 Squadron

The Polish 307 night-fighter squadron was part of the RAF, which defended the South West of England during WW2. It prevented Exeter from being totally destroyed during the blitz on the city in 1942.

The event includes:
Free public exhibition titled "Lwów Eagle-Owls" in English and Polish, including memorabilia and archive footage.

At 10:00 on Sunday 15th November, ‘307 Squadron Day’, the Polish flag will be raised over the Guildhall by the Lord Mayor of Exeter in memory of the squadron.

At 12:00 on Sunday 15th November a short service of remembrance followed by a wreath laying at the 307 Squadron Memorial will take place in the St James Chapel of Exeter Cathedral.

At 14:00 on Sunday 15th November a talk at Exeter Guildhall by Polish Air Force expert Robert Gretzyngier titled ‘Beaufighter Days’.

Please note that space is limited for the ceremony at the cathedral due to the size of the chapel,  however the service may be able to be viewed and heard from outside the chapel.

The exhibition in both English and Polish, will take place at the Exeter Guildhall, from:

Saturday 14th November 10:00–16:00
Sunday 15th November 10:00–16:00

A partner of the event is the Polish Air Force Museum at Dęblin in Poland. The exhibition titled "Lwów Eagle-Owls" (Lwowskie Puhacze) was created two years ago and displayed at the Dęblin museum for a year, in November the exhibition will be shown for the first time at the 307 Squadron Days at Exeter!

307 Squadron Project, which is also in partnership with Exeter City Council for this event, is a British-Polish registered charity established to promote the role and carry out further research on the squadron that were known as the ‘Lwow Eagle Owls’.
The project also promotes cooperation between our nations.
