The Prayer Book Rebellion, was a popular uprising in Devon and Cornwall in June 1549, fuelled by resistance to the new, English-Language Book of Common Prayer. Tony Gale will reflect on the 16th August 1549 when the royalist army stayed overnight in Crediton. They were pursuing the remnants of the rebel army crushed in a battle near Exeter. Thousands of defeated combatants had fled west as the royalists were hunting them down.

 Admission £5 for non-members. Annual membership is excellent value at £15. Tea and biscuits included with admission.
