1598 Norden map of the Crediton Hundred. The original was lost in the 1915 fire at Creedy House, but a copy had been made by a local vicar, probably in the middle of the 19th Century. This copy now resides in the Devon Heritage Centre and has itself been laboriously copied by hand for us by CAHMS founder member Robin Langhorne. It comprises 44 map sheets, and many pages of notes on property ownership.
Robin wrote several pages of notes describing the map, and his experience of copying it. These are well worth reading in their own right, and essential for anyone using the map for research. We have reproduced them in full here.
