Workshop focussing on the music written in Crediton and its surrounding area, much of it rediscovered by the Quire’s researchers.
The West Gallery Quire of Crediton is running a workshop at the Congregational Church on Saturday June 30th, offering a chance for local singers and players of string and woodwind instruments to learn some of the beautiful music that was written in and around Crediton, mainly in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
At that time there were very few organs in churches, and instead the church music would be made by the same local band and singers who entertained the pub on Saturday evenings. The music is lively, and performing it is great fun.
This workshop’s focus is on the music written in Crediton and its surrounding area, much of it rediscovered by the Quire’s researchers. All singers and string and woodwind players are welcome. The day will include a FREE performance open to all.
